Meningitis is the inflammation of the meninges, the protective membrane covering the brain and the spinal cord. Meningitis is a medical emergency and can be life threatening.
The following indications can be observed in a person suffering from meningitis:
• Fever as high as 103°F
• Extremely painful, severe headache
• Persistent vomiting
• Severe pain at the back of the neck and stiffness
• In severe cases, a purplish skin rash appears, which means the person need to be treated as soon as possible.
