DT (diphtheria and tetanus) vaccine does not protect from pertussis and is usually reserved for individuals who have had a significant adverse reaction to a DPT shot or who have a personal or family history of a seizure disorder or brain disease. The DT vaccine is a combination vaccine. It protects against diphtheria and tetanus.
• It should be given 6-8 weeks after birth.
• Three doses have to be taken at 4 weeks interval followed by 2 booster doses at 1.5 and 5 yrs of age.
