Hepatitis B Vaccine

The hepatitis B vaccines are a recombinant DNA vaccines produced by inserting the gene for HBV into yeast for the growth and then it is harvested, and purified. HBV infection will not occur after receiving hepatitis B vaccine. The vaccine is administered as an injection through intra muscular route of the upper arm for adults and older children and in the thigh muscle of toddlers. It is given as three doses.

Recommended age of administration:

• First dose-6weeks

• Second dose-10 weeks

• Third dose-14 weeks
