Olive oil is found to have many nutritional values for a healthy living. Olive oil is monounsaturated oil. It is a product which has many advantages and no negative effects of the body. Olive oil is used in many cosmetic products, cooking and medicinal products. It is very beneficial in curing many diseases. Here are few health benefits of olive oil in our daily life.

Types of Olive Oil:

  • Virgin
  • Extra virgin
  • Pure

Extra virgin oil is the oil from the first pressing of the olives. Extra virgin oil is least processed. Virgin oil is the oil from the second pressing of olives. Pure oil undergoes processing such as filtering and refining.

Healthy heart: Olive oil is found to lower blood pressure, reduce the risk of heart attacks and prevents blood coagulation. Olive oil is rich in monounsaturated fats therefore prevents the deposition of LDL (Bad cholesterol) on the arteries.

Controls obesity and abdominal fat:
Olive oil aids in weight loss and reduces abdominal fat.

Pregnancy:  Consuming olive oil during fetal development helps the development of fetus. This has a positive influence of baby’s height, weight and behavior.

Skin glow: Olive oil is rich in vitamin E. They have antioxidant property and delays aging of the skin. It is a natural moisturizer to the skin. It prevents the development of certain types of skin cancers and ailments.

Guard against cancer: Olive oil contains a monounsaturated fatty acid called oleic acid, which guards against cancer.

Prevent diabetes: It does not cure diabetes but has the power to prevent or delay the onset of the disease.

Protect against Rheumatoid arthritis: Olive oil is found to protect against rheumatoid arthritis.

Other benefits: Aids in the development of brain and bones in children. It helps in overall body function, increases excretion of bile, digestion and maintains good health.
