Teenage is time when a sudden social, physiological and emotional changes is seen, this is known to have a disturbing effect on sleep. It is found out that a teenager will need more sleep when compared to school going children. But the fact remains that due to high burden related to educational activities and also due to their lifestyle they get to sleep very less. Very less sleep in night will naturally lead to tiredness and drowsiness in the morning affecting the regular schoolwork and other activities like driving by reducing concentration. This can increase the risk towards depression or the usage of alcohols.
In order to control day time sleep a regular physical activity, like aerobic exercise, will help young people to fall asleep faster and make them more restful but for some people exercising right before bedtime may make sleeping more difficult.
