A fold in the skin is called as a wrinkle. Wrinkles are said to be a sign of aging. But it is also known to happen due to sun damage or smoking or poor hydration or crash diet.  Wrinkle occurs due to skin not being able to expand evenly during absorption of water when exposed to water for a long time. Wrinkles are also caused due to dehydration in our body.

There are two types of wrinkles, the first type is horizontal lines on the forehead between the hairline and the eyebrows and the second type is vertical lines on the lower forehead between the eyebrows.

Causes of Forehead Wrinkles:

• Skin damage that occurs due to aging.

• Movements of muscles on forehead leads to wrinkles as in case while expressing emotions and making muscle contraction in forehead.

• Exposure to the harmful UV rays of the sun.

• Malnutrition can cause wrinkles at a young age.

• Crash diet for rapid weight loss can cause wrinkles.

• Cigarette smoking speeds up wrinkle formation due to the release of oxygen-free radicals.

• Vitamin E deficiency causes wrinkles as it is an important anti oxidant.

• In some cases it can be hereditary.

Remedies for Wrinkles:

• Apply castor oil for 3-5 times a week.

• Apply a mixture of yogurt and rice powder and massage gently for 5 minutes and then wash using water.

• Apply a mixture of honey and glycerin and keep it for 7- 10 minutes and then wash using water.

• Drink at least 8 glasses of water each day to keep the skin hydrated.

• Use antioxidant cream and moisturizers, this will prevent drying of skin.

• Avoid too much alcohol intake and smoking.

• While going out in hot sun wear a hat and sun glasses to reduce the sun's effect as much as possible.
