The appendix is a small, tube-like organ attached to the cecum (first part of the large intestine).Appendicitis is an inflammation of the appendix. It can be consider as a medical emergency and many cases require removal of the inflamed appendix, by laparotomy or laparoscopy. Untreated appendicitis can cause peritonitis and shock which can leads to death also.
