Gonorrhea is a common sexually transmitted disease. Gonorrhea is an infection which is easily transmitted by sexual contact. It can be transmitted during oral, vaginal or anal sex. In the male, the risk of acquiring gonorrhea following one episode of vaginal intercourse with an infected female is approximately 20%. Women are thought to acquire gonorrhea at a slightly higher rate from an infected male. Gonorrhea does not respect either the geographic location or the person’s standing in society. Risk factors include having multiple sexual partners and partner with past history of any STD.
