Hepatitis C is caused by Hepatitis C virus (HCV). It affects the liver of the body. It is often asymptomatic but once established chronic infection progress to fibrosis, cirrhosis. In people who have cirrhosis will develop complications of liver failure including liver cancer.

Hepatitis c is usually spread by blood to blood contact and is transmitted by blood transfusion, drugs usage, organ transplantation, sexual exposure, exposure to alcohol and toxins, shared razers, tooth brushes. Hepatitis C progresses slowly, and many people who anchorage the virus will never get sick.

About 300 million people are affected by Hepatitis C world wide every year. About 15% of cases are due to active stage of Hepatitis C and half of the cases are of chronic stage.

Types:

It occurs in two stages Acute (lasts for short time) and chronic (last for long period of time).
