Encephalitis is an acute inflammation of the brain. This can develop as a result of viral infection (mostly). It can also cause severe problems to the nervous system. Encephalitis is more serious than meningitis (inflammation of inner linings of brain). Encephalitis with meningitis is called as meningoencephalitis. Encephalitis is most commonly found in elderly people, children’s and people with week immune system. There are two types, primary encephalitis occurs when a virus directly invades brain and secondary encephalitis occurs first some where else in body and finally enter to the brain.
