Migraine head ache is a neurological syndrome. It is caused by combination of enlargement of blood vessels and release of chemicals from nerve fibers that coil around the blood vessels. Migraine head aches typically lasts from 4-72 hours. Types: They are two types based on aura (with or without) Common migraine (migraine without aura) - about 80 % are of this type Classic migraine (migraine with aura) - in this people experience aura before their head ache. Aura is in the form of visual disturbance like jagged light images. Migraine head ache affects 15% of the world population. It is seen both in men and women but in women it is three times more than men. |
