Overactive Bladder (OAB) is an urological condition. It is increased urinary urgency with or without urge urinary incontinence caused by involuntary bladder contractions when bladder is filled. In people with OAB, muscle called detrusor contracts spastically and causes high bladder pressure and results in urgency urination. Normally this muscle contracts and relaxes in response to volume of urine in bladder, but in people with OAB experience urgency at unpredictable and inconvenient times.

OAB is seen both in men and women but more in women of any age. It affects more than 17 million men and women every year all over the world. It is seen more in United States and Europe (1 in 6 adults).
