Deriphyllin is a combination of Theophylline and Etophylline. This drug is given mainly for treating lung diseases to improve airway function. This drug also has positive effect on heart rate and heart contractility. This drug has a narrow Therapeutic Index, which means that it can cause side effects if the dose is increased, In patients with Congestive Heart Failure you have to be careful with the dose. In the CHF patients the metabolism of the drug is effected leading to accumulation and toxicity.
