Question (Posted on : 16 Jan 2008 )I am infected by Hiv/Aids for the last 10 yrs. my cd4 count is less than 100 and it fluctuates every after three months.five years ago it was diagonosed Hiv negative, and now my cd4 countis only 60. pls suggest. |
Doctor's Response (Posted on : 16 Jan 2008 )Normal CD4 counts in adults range from 500 to 1,500. When a person turns HIV positive the first time the CD4 count will fall suddenly and the count rises back to normal. However over the course of disease the CD4 count falls again and your count of 100 is very low - you are immunocompromised and at risk for infections. Are you taking HIV medicines (anti-retrovirals) ? Turning back from HIV positive to negative may only be a misdiagnosis - virus can at times " hide " from ELISA tests. |
