Strenuous workouts can aggravate your wheezing problem - you have to get the wheezing well under control before resuming the workouts. The pain in your chest is probably due to the effect of the severe cough you had. Once the cough subsides, the pain should gradually disappear. If it persists even a week or so after the cough has stopped, then consult your doctor again to see if tests are necessary.
