TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation)

• TENS is an non-invasive low-voltage electrical stimulation technique done by the application of pulsed rectangular wave current forms through surface electrodes on the skin.

• TENS unit works on the principle of pain gate theory achieving pain relief by stimulating large afferent fibers preferentially and thus inhibiting transmission of  pain impulses to the brain.

Indications: Chronic pain syndromes, Incisional pain, Phantom limb pain, Trigeminal neuralgia, Postherpatic neuralgia, Arthritis, Migraine, Spinal Disc, Surgical Trauma, Headache, Sciatica etc

Contraindications: Cardiac pacemakers, Cardiac arrhythmias, Poor sensation.
